Elvis on TV Land

Joe Esposito is talking about what the real Elvis was like.
The two were drafted at the same time. They were stationed at Fort Hood. Joe went to Germany first. Elvis stayed behind, his mother passed away. Elvis was a bit nervous about going to Germany. The two met in Germany.
When they were about to go back to the States Elvis asked Joe to work for him. "Elvis was thrilled to be back in Memphis." Joey Bishop and Frank Sinatra through a Welcome Back bash on TV. There is a showing of the episode. Damn, Elvis was hot!
Joe was in awe when he first heard of Elvis. He thought Elvis was amazing. Girls went crazy. Guys were jealous.
The press and churches tried to bring him down. Religious leaders said he had the devil in him. Now people realize he wasn't trying to be sexy. He was just being himself.
When Jailhouse Rock came out, people were appreciating his acting ability. Elvis gave the ideas to the choreographer. And his moves turned out right.
Joe said Elvis got his energy from his fans. Fans would go crazy, so would Elvis. A reporter asked Elvis why he did the moves he did. Elvis answered, that's just how I feel like moving. It just came naturally.
He kept learning karate after he got back from the Army. Was probably the first to use karate in film, before Bruce Lee. Brought him a lot of confidence. He really loved karate. Elvis was very good at it.
Elvis made a total of 31 films. Elvis would ask that his buddies would be used in bit parts. Elvis was good to fans and would take time to visit with fans. He cared about his fans. All the guys in a background scene from Jailhouse Rock were his buddies from Memphis.
Elvis was a generous person. When President Roosevelt's boat was going to be destroyed Col. Parker planned on having Elvis buy it and give to charity. He ended up giving it to Danny Thomas for the St Jude. Elvis made Danny wait at the celebration to sign autographs, because he said it was the fans who made him who he was.
Elvis and Priscilla married in Vegas on May 1, 1967. Went to Palm Springs to fool the media. Snuck to Vegas. Got married at City Hall. It was a small and somber wedding. Both were happy to be getting married. Joe was best man. They celebrated the honeymoon in Palm Springs.
Elvis loved Hawaii. That was where he would vacation. He would stay at the Hilton. He liked hanging out at the beach and relax. One time he even went to the Bahamas. He had been to Vail.
Elvis' plane cost $275,000. Elvis never even saw it before he bought it. He just had his crew look at it and told them to buy it.
When Elvis was in New York. He did great in interviews. He was scared to go on stage. He was give great reviews. He felt very accepted in new York.
In the interview that is being shown now. He said that compared to music of the 70's he was tame, just wiggled around. He didn't want to criticize other performers, but said it was hard to find good music.
Joe is talking about Priscilla. When Elvis first met her he jumped off his chair to meet her. He was excited when Priscilla became pregnant. Elvis loved kids and pets and was excited he would have a kid of his own. He is showing some of the homes where Elvis and Priscilla lived. Him and Elvis' family would hang out a lot. Elvis would spoil Lisa Marie. Priscilla raised Lisa Marie well.
Tom Parker was better in real life than the rumors suggested. Col. did not take advantage of Elvis.
I will finish this later. There will be another episode and I will continue
God Bless from the Upper Peninsula in Michigan!
