Richmond, VA (LifeNews.com) -- When Republican voters consider the candidates for the GOP presidential primary, the statewide pro-life group in Virginia says they should consider Fred Thompson. The Virginia Society for Human Life told LifeNews.com on Thursday that its political action committee has endorsed the Tennessee senator.

Brenda Fastabend, the president of the group, the oldest statewide pro-life organization in the nation, says "Fred Thompson is a stellar candidate for President of the United States."

"Fred Thompson’s one hundred percent pro-life voting record compiled during his eight years’ service in the U.S. Senate, speaks volumes for his integrity and statesmanship," Fastabend explained.

"In the eyes of Virginians who care about the dignity and sanctity of human life and the most basic freedom upon which our nation was founded -- the right to life -- Fred Thompson is a leader of great promise for the office of president," she told LifeNews.com.

Fastabend cited the same pro-life record that has prompted other state pro-life organizations across the nation to throw their support behind Thompson...

With the Virginia group's endorsement, it joins a growing list of statewide pro-life groups backing Thompson, including North Carolina, California, Minnesota, Vermont, South Carolina, Wyoming, Wisconsin, West Virginia, and New York. [more here]
