CNN is Showing Exit Polls

CNN is showing exit poll results. They have stated that Vermont is the winner take all state. They are speculating that this will be the election that will make John McCain the Republican nominee.

• "It's a little late in the process for me to be coy. I want you to know that I think I'm that man," he told an audience of more than 100 in Dubuque, Iowa.
• Thompson just started a 15-day bus tour to 50-plus Iowa cities. He'll be in the state nearly every day until the January 3 caucuses.
• To watch his campaign is to witness a candidate trying to shake the rap that he has no fire in his belly.
• His red meat speeches are redder. His arguments for why he should be president are sharper.
• "My friends, I've been there, and I can tell you we are just one successful terrorist plan away from a nuclear attack on this country," Thompson told Iowa voters. "All the experts know that it's the kind of world we live in. It's not the time for on-the-job training."
• Thompson has had some good news in Iowa lately. He was widely praised for a a stellar performance at last week's Des Moines Register debate. He even uses a key moment -- refusing to raise his hand in response to the moderator's question about global warming -- as a prime example of his leadership.
• "I just asked my colleagues on the stage there, in effect, I said, 'Guys, how are you going to stand up to leaders of Iran and North Korea if you can't stand up to an overbearing moderator?' " Thompson tells crowds.
• Thompson also snagged a key endorsement from Iowa Rep. Steve King, an influential Republican and vocal leader against illegal immigration.
  

As much as it pains me to do this, I will post what Fred Thompson had to say about Mike Huckabee's recent "bunker mentality statement.

• "I don't think Gov. Huckabee appreciates the kind of world that we live in," Thompson said. "I think he's under the impression if we're nicer and sweeter to the bad guys that maybe they'll love us. Unfortunately, that's not the case."

Mike Huckabee on the Situation Room

I am waiting for Mike Huckabee to appear on the Situation Room. OK, here is Huckabee. Wolf Blitzer is talking about poll numbers being good. He is asking Mike about Pat Toomey's attacks in regards to taxes. Mike Huckabee is setting the record straight. The taxes were voted by the people of Arkansas and he didn't sign for all of them. He will not be an old fashioned conservative who will be controlled by Wall Street. He doesn't want to put down other opponents, even though they have been putting him down. He is setting the record straight about Mitty's statement that he "gave special rates to children of illegals" who were planning on going to college. He did not give them special rates. He gave them the same opportunity as all kids of Arkansas. Mike knew it would be better in the long run for them to get good jobs after graduating so they could be independent from government, if they were stuck in minimum wage jobs. Holy!#$#$ Mike is in 2nd place in Iowa polls now. He is different from Rudy Giuliani on abortion. He believes all abortion is wrong. Would Mike ask Rudy as his running mate? It depends, if he can change his views on abortion.

Mike Huckabee will appear on CNN's "Late Edition" with Blitzer tomorrow at approximately 11:30am EST.

Watching the debate ADD style

I was sleeping during the debate and forgot to set my VCR. I am watching it on the Internet. Not too much excitement. The sound is horrible, so I can only pick up half of what is being said. It is hard for me to focus on anything Sam Brownback says, due to that chartreuse tie. What was he thinking? Mitt Romney reminded me of a manipulative woman, with his chin tucked towards his chest, sly smile and batting his eyelashes. I liked Tommy Thompson's intro, "I'm Thompson, Tommy, the candidate, not the actor." I like Mike's intro, "...I'm from Hope, you may have heard of it. All I can say is give us one more chance." Most of the candidates had the same answers about Iraq. Mike Huckabee seemed to make the most sense. He explained that we in the west don't understand how determined some groups in the middle east are. He said that, "It's not the size of the dog in the fight, but the size of the fight in the dog." He says we need to realize the determination of the factions. I think that sums it up pretty well. That was from Part 1 of 4 parts CNN has on their website. I will be watching the other parts soon and blogging about them. I will write more about this soon.
